We are seeking an experienced Sanitation Officer to join our world-class shipboard leadership team. This pivotal role oversees and executes the vessel’s sanitation program, ensuring full compliance with USPH and international public health regulations while upholding the highest standards of excellence in a luxury cruise environment.
About the Role
The Sanitation Officer leads shipboard sanitation operations, overseeing galley hygiene, scheduling and managing utility teams, conducting inspections, and maintaining all required regulatory documentation. Working closely with Food & Beverage leadership, this role ensures consistent compliance, operational efficiency, and the highest standards of hygiene and safety across the vessel.
This position is ideal for a sanitation professional with luxury hospitality or cruise experience who brings strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and a commitment to excellence within a multicultural, fast-paced onboard environment.
- Key Details Contract: 4 months onboard / 2 months off
- Salary: USD 5,580 per month (onboard only)
- Reporting Line: Food & Beverage Manager
- Duties and Responsibilities Ensure shipwide compliance with USPH, public health, and company sanitation standards
- Oversee sanitation operations across galleys, food outlets, and regulated areas
- Conduct scheduled and unannounced sanitation inspections
- Maintain, review, and archive all required sanitation and temperature logs
- Plan and execute the onboard Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program
- Train and monitor crew adherence to sanitation procedures and best practices
- Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of galley equipment
- Coordinate corrective actions and maintenance follow-ups with relevant teams
- Monitor hours of work and rest in compliance with MLC 2006
What We Are Looking For
- Degree or Diploma in Sanitation Management (required)
- USPH VSP Course Certificate (required)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in sanitation or food safety within luxury hospitality Cruise ship experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of USPH and public health regulations
- HACCP knowledge is an advantage
- Valid STCW certificates
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Proven leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
