About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Operations Officer to join our Onshore Medical Operations department. This role is crucial in ensuring seamless medical coordination for seafarers on a global scale.

As a Medical Operations Officer, you will:

Manage end-to-end medical referrals for seafarers, from appointment scheduling to follow-up and closure.

Coordinate medical cases across multiple countries, time zones, and providers.

Liaise directly with patients, captains, agents, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth communication.

Document and maintain accurate medical records on our case management platform (Seacare).

Provide regular status updates to clients and stakeholders, ensuring transparency at every stage.

Coordinate transportation logistics, including repatriations and medical evacuations, when necessary.

Support decision-making on urgent cases, using sound judgment and cost-awareness.

This is a high-impact position where your work will directly contribute to the health and safety of seafarers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Case Coordination: Handle inpatient and outpatient medical cases, including cost and case monitoring.

Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, captains, and internal teams.

Reporting: Produce daily updates for hospitalized patients and provide detailed case summaries.

Compliance: Ensure all case documentation follows GDPR and HIPAA compliance standards.

Logistics: Organize transportation, visas, and appointments as required.

Crisis Management: Act quickly in urgent scenarios such as medical evacuations or repatriations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.

Strong time management and organizational skills, able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Attention to detail and ability to make swift, informed decisions under pressure.

Understanding of medical terminology and ability to interpret basic medical reports.

Comfort working remotely with a global team, across different time zones.

Proficient in digital tools (case management software, MS Office, email communications).

Nice-to-Have Skills

Additional languages: French and/or Portuguese.

Previous experience in the maritime industry, medical assistance, telemedicine coordination, or crewing.

Familiarity with insurance and cost-control processes for medical cases.

What We Offer

A fully remote, flexible work setup with global exposure.

The opportunity to deep dive into maritime medicine, a unique and growing niche.

High-impact work: Every case you manage directly improves a seafarer’s health and wellbeing.

Collaboration with a diverse, international team of medical operations specialists.

Continuous training and professional development in case management and medical coordination.

Working Environment

You will join a motivated, detail-oriented team that thrives on problem-solving and delivering excellent results under pressure. Expect a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same β€” one day you may be arranging a specialist consultation in Singapore, and the next you could be coordinating an emergency evacuation in Brazil.

You’ll be supported with training, clear SOPs, and a collaborative culture where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
