Role Summary
Ensure the effective operational delivery of all automation aspects of entertainment, supporting the overall success of production shows and events. Provide additional technical support for sound or lighting when required and deputise for the Production Manager as directed.


Primary Responsibilities:
* Oversee and operate all automation systems for entertainment productions, including stage lifts, moving scenery, and special effects.
* Provide technical support for shows, deck activities, talks, and other events as directed by the Production Manager.
* Operate automation equipment during main events, ensuring smooth and safe transitions of sets and effects.
* Assist with set design changes, cueing technicians, and prompting performers during rehearsals and live performances.
* Manage staff within the automation section on a day-to-day basis, ensuring high-quality technical support and adherence to safety standards.
* Coach and train team members in automation system operation and maintenance to develop technical skills within the team.
* Attend rehearsals and band calls, ensuring all automation equipment is functional and undertaking repairs as necessary.
* Conduct planned and preventative maintenance, cleaning, and testing of automation systems; report issues and assist with repairs or replacements.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
* Assist with managing production stores, including safe storage of pyrotechnics and automation-related stock.
* Participate in regular meetings with the Production Manager to review entertainment needs and technical requirements.


Skills & Experience:
* Strong technical knowledge of automation systems used in live entertainment or theatrical productions.
* Previous experience operating and maintaining stage automation equipment.
* Ability to lead and train a team effectively.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing schedules.


Desirable:
* Experience with cruise ship entertainment or large-scale productions.
* Familiarity with pyrotechnics handling and safety procedures.
* Knowledge of integrated technical systems (sound, lighting, video) alongside automation.
