Position Description:
We are looking for experienced Assistant ELECTRICIAN for cruise vessel MITSUI OCEAN FUJI.

Embarkation at the end of December 2024

Contract 6 months +/-1

Salary in USD/per month worked - to be advised upon interview


Position Summary:



The Assistant Electrician shall carry out assignments and complete work orders as directed by the Chief Electrician or 1st Electrician with regards to maintenance and repair work on the vessel’s electrical systems and components.  The holder of this position must be a skilled electrician, capable of working with minimum supervision and with the ability to carry out basic electrical troubleshooting , maintenance and repair works.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



To support Company’s mission of sustaining an upmarket cruise experience with a destination-driven brand image. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the Standards, Safety is Everybody's Business, ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, and environmental regulations.




1. In accordance with Company’s Standards it is each employee’s responsibility to conduct their self at all times in a professional and courteous manner concerning physical and verbal interactions with guests and fellow shipboard employees.



2    The Company places the highest value on the environment and all crewmembers shall do the same.  This position shall work with supervisors to understand and comply with the company's environmental policies and be committed to safeguarding the environment.  He/she shall directly and immediately inform his/her immediate supervisor if any environmental system does not function properly onboard.




3.   Each Assistant Electrician shall receive his specific job description in writing from the Chief Electrician when he signs on the ship or if the job description has been changed.  The specific job description shall be filed in the ships Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).


4.   Repair electrical equipment in guest and crew cabins.


5.   Assist the 2nd Electrician with the repair of vacuum cleaners, electrical tools, and electronic equipment etc.


6.   Maintaining good order in the electrical workshops including tools.


7.   Be familiar with the RFR System.


8.   Be familiar with PMS Maintenance and spare part ordering system


9.   Maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment in hotel area including galleys, pantries, bars, Guest and Crew laundry.


10. Shipboard employees may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.




Financial Responsibilities: 



  • The position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of chemicals, supplies and equipment.


Motivational Responsibilities:



  • The position does not have supervisory / motivational responsibilities but is expected to contribute wherever and however possible towards maintaining a positive and productive workplace environment.


QUALIFICATIONS



Minimum hiring, language and physical requirements to perform the job



Hiring Requirements:



  • Must hold Electrical certificate(s) or diploma(s) in area of technical specialty.
    • Three or more years’ progressive technical experience and training in the electrical field and be able to perform the recommended responsibilities according to the Job Description.
    • Previous exposure to international environments strongly preferred.
    • Ability to work with an international staff in a positive and productive manner.



Internal Candidate Requirements:


In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates are required to fulfill the following:



§   Completion of one contract with a performance rating of satisfactory or above.


§   No written warnings on file within the past 6 months.



Language Requirements:



  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.  This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.


Physical Requirements: 



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


·          All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills.  Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.  Therefore, the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is necessary
