We are currently seeking an experienced Second Officer to join the cruise vessel SILVER MUSE with immediate embarkation. The contract duration is 4 months ± 1 month. Candidates must have prior cruise ship experience, hold all valid and relevant certificates, and be able to provide strong references and professional recommendations.


Position Summary:
- Maintain a safe navigational watch on the bridge at sea, anchor, and port in accordance with Company Policies, National/International standards, and prescribed regulations.
- Assist and support the Safety Officer and Navigation Officer as per Master’s or Staff Captain’s instructions.


Reporting Structure:
- Reports to Captain, Staff Captain, and Chief Navigator.
- Supervises Quarter Master, Fire Patrol, and Security Guard on duty.


Safety Duties:
- Participate in crew and passenger safety drills.
- Comply with safety and pollution prevention regulations and procedures.
- Lead by example in health and safety.
- Ensure correct use of work equipment, PPE, chemicals, and safety devices.


Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Valid STCW95 certification.
- Valid CoC A-II/1.
- Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of navigational charts and publications.
- Physically and medically fit.
- Moral integrity.
- Coast Guard and Port State Control experience.


Language requirements: Fluent English (verbal, written, technical). Additional languages beneficial.
Computer knowledge: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Required to stand, walk long distances, reach, sit, bend, climb stairs/ladders, lift/push up to 50lbs.
- Overtime work and irregular schedules.
- Works on the Bridge with light traffic and distracting environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Master’s representative during Bridge watch, supervise the ‘on watch’ team, ensure watches are carried out properly, and Masters standing orders are followed.
- Ensure adequate rounds of the vessel, report equipment malfunctions, perform/direct routine adjustments, observe meteorological/tidal conditions, and adhere to emergency procedures.
- Ensure satisfactory watch when Captain/Pilot is in control, follow orders, ensure ship’s position, and use all navigational means.
- Responsible for vessel handling characteristics, safety features, and familiarity with Company’s VMS.
- Ensure seaworthiness and familiarity with lifesaving, fire-fighting, and pollution prevention equipment.
- Keep log of all watch operations and conditions.
- Assist lower-ranked Deck Officers with bridge instruments and equipment.
- Supervise moorings and in-port manning duties while in port.
- Responsible for anchor operations, ship’s position, lookout, inspection rounds, meteorological/tidal observations, readiness of engines, and safe tender/zodiac operations.
- Monitor navigational equipment, lights, and emergency signaling.
- Carry out operational tests of navigation equipment.
- Ensure correct course steering and compass error determination.
- Use radars in restricted visibility and congested waters.
- Maintain navigational charts, hydrograph, and weather communications.
- Ensure ECDIS updates and navigation plans.
- Communicate with pilot stations, VTS, and other ships.
- Oversee emergency equipment testing and comprehensive handover for relieving Officer.
- Apply and comply with all International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea (COLREGS 72), ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, ECDIS, MARPOL, GMDSS, and other relevant codes and legislation.
- Assist in tendering, zodiac operations, mooring stations, and crew training.
- Maintain log books and assigned documentation.
- Monitor subordinates' working/rest hours and overtime for compliance.
- Practice good people management and enforce uniform/grooming standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
