The 1st Electro-Technical Officer is the deputy of the Chief Electro-Technical Officer as such should familiarize themselves with all the duties associated with the job of the Chief Electro-Technical Officer.
By mutual arrangement with the Chief Electro-Technical Officer, the 1st Electro-Technical Officer should be on board the vessel at any time the Chief Electro-Technical Officer is absent from the ship.
In consultation with the Chief Electro-Technical Officer the 1st Electro-Technical officer will be responsible to assist in the maintenance and repair of the following systems: Propulsion, Thrusters, Main HV switchboards and Ships Stabilizers.
Consults on a regular basis with the Chief Electro-Technical Officer concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the electrical equipment.
Assign daily maintenance and repair duties to all members of the electrical department and actively supervise team members in the performing of these duties.
The 1st Electro-Technical Officer is to inspect work in progress, and on completion, ensuring that manpower is utilized to its fullest extent.
To ensure each member of the team is aware that all work performed is done in such a manner in order to conform to all the applicable regulatory and safety standards.
Ensures that all work is completed to such a standard as to reduce , where possible, future failures.
The 1st Electro-Technical Officer is to ensure that all tasks detailed in the SMS system are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Prepares spare parts requisitions, submitting them to the Chief Electro-Technical officer/Engine Storekeeper for review/Processing.
Oversee the inventory of materials on hand and on order; receiving and signing for materials, ensuring they are properly labeled, preserved, stowed and secured to avoid loss from damage or deterioration.
Ensure control over the issuance and usage of spare parts and consumables in order to prevent waste.
Ensure that all assigned maintenance and repairs are entered into InfoSHIP detailing all repairs and parts used. The entries must also include the required test results.
Always operate with the full consideration for the comfort of Guests.
Coordinate with the Safety Officer in order to assign Electro-Technical Personnel to perform the maintenance of firefighting and lifesaving equipment. All such equipment must be regularly tested in accordance with the national, international and Company regulations and with sufficient frequency in order to ensure its good operating condition.
With the assistance of other members of the department. Maintain in full operating order the Bridge Navigational Instruments
Supervise and execute routine tests of the Ship’s Public Address system to assure its reliability and performance as required by SOLAS.
Assign Electro-Technical Personnel to Check, verify and maintain all Security equipment on board to ensure continuity and reliability of operation.
Works Closely with the Facility manager in order to ensure all repair orders are completed in a timely manner.
Assist IT System Manager where required in order to execute cyber risk assessments and implement risk mitigation measures and treatment plans. Responsible for Incident Response and Management onboard on IT and IT systems. Responsible to inform the SSO of cyber incidents that may impact Safety.
Performs ERM duties as directed by the Chief Engineer Officer.
Satisfy the requirements regarding health and physical requirements of the Flag State of the Ship

• A good standard of interpersonal and public relations with Guests at all levels.IT/Equipment expertise Computer literacy and ability to operate office equipment.Basic Windows based programs knowledge.Language Capability Fluent in oral and written English (working and Safety language of the Company) Explora Fleet English Level: B2. Ability to speak, read and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement. Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages is considered a major advantage.
